STEP Sports, Inc. @ Northwell Health Ice Center, home of the NY Islanders practice facility is a multi-sports camp program designed to introduce campers to the wonderful world of sports through fun! Throughout the day, campers will participate in ice skating, lacrosse, soccer, floor hockey, mini golf, batting cage, recreation swimming, art, yoga, twirling, tumbling and many other stimulating activities in a safe and fun atmosphere.
We are a licensed Daycare Facility with OCFS and Nassau County Department of Health.
All sports Coached by NYS Certified Coaches and NYS Physical Education Teachers.
We reside on the beautiful grounds of Eisenhower Park. A 930-ACRE OASIS OF OPEN SPACE AND RECREATION in the heart of Nassau County, Eisenhower Park is one of the largest public spaces in the NY metropolitan area, in fact, larger than Central Park. The park offers a full range of athletic and family activities, including one of the finest swimming facilities in the U.S., a major golf facility, dozens of athletic fields and courts, picnic areas, summertime entertainment, playgrounds, fitness trails and more.
Our mission is to make each campers experience a unique and positive one by building confidence through their creative and athletic skills. Your child will not only learn the basic skills needed to play in a multitude of sports and activities but we also focus on fine and gross motor skills, cooperation, team work, and sportsmanship. STEP Sports is the perfect program to introduce your child to sports and non-sport activities to foster a creative outlet while keeping your child one “STEP” ahead.
After a daily sign-in campers will be escorted by our friendly staff/counselor to the general meeting area within Northwell Ice Center. Each morning we will have an introduction in which we discuss the theme of the day and the daily activities. Campers then will be separated by age into their groups.
Ages 2-4: “Little STEP’s” upstairs in STEP Academy area (no swimming, sprinkler park only)
Ages 5-6: “STEP Above” (no swimming, water sports)
Ages 7-9: “STEP Beyond”
Ages 10-12: “STEP Out”
Ages 14-17: “STEP CIT”
(camper pricing applies, must be able to obtain working papers, employment not guaranteed, letter of recommendation from guidance counselor, clergy, public official, etc. as well as a letter of interest submitted prior to June 1st,2016)
9:15-12:00: Within the daily and weekly camp structure, campers will then be assigned a daily sports and activity track on a rotating basis. The stations include climate-controlled Indoor Turf, Indoor Ice Skating, Outdoor Pond (cement surface) and outdoor grass fields located adjacent to Northwell HealthCenter.
Each station will have a NYS Certified Coach and/or NYS Certified Instructor who will instruct the campers on the rules and guidelines stations activities. Our STEP Counselors will be with the campers and assist them with their participation sport/activity.
12:00-12:45: A mid-day break for lunch for all campers is from 12:00noon- 12:45pm. Campers can bring their own bagged lunch can be purchased direct for the caterer weekly.
12:45-2:45:Camper station choice. Daily rotated stations will be communicated with the campers each day.
2:45-3:00: All campers will head back to the general meeting area in which daily closing remarks will be given.
Parents arrive by 3pm for pick up.
After care children are accompanied by a counselor upstairs to STEP Academy.
**All children must electronically be signed out in order for them to exit the premise.
Instructional ice skating and Hockey 101-campers choice
The Outdoor Pond at Northwell Health Center will transform to a smooth play surface. At this station, campers will enjoy playing a variety of different sports including but not limited to floor hockey, basketball, lacrosse and off the wall soccer, yoga, twirling.
The outdoor grass fields are located adjacent to Northwell Health Center. At this station, campers will be participating in kickball, capture the flag, relay races, and other field games.
STEP Academy is located upstairs in Northwell Health Center. This is a climate controlled facility with a 4,000 square ft. turf field. At this station, campers can participate in dodge ball, tumbling, fitness, yoga, art and movie time.
